A Request For a Loan Modification Does Not Stop the Foreclosure Process

At most mortgage companies there are two separate departments that deal with foreclosures. Once the foreclosure action starts, there are certain steps which a mortgage company takes. They normally have one department which handles the work at each step along the way from start to end. They have a separate department which handles requests for loan modifications. Frequently these two departments don’t communicate with each other.
